March 31st is Tater Day!
What is a tater? its a potatoe! I love them, do you?
I know its a major carb and can be rather unhealthy depending on how its cooked. I love them because they are a natural food item that isn’t processed and out of a box. They can be baked, boiled, steamed, fried, and so on. Just about anything tastes good on or with them. They can be a main dish or a side.
Activities to do to celebrate today!
1. Share your favorite potato recipe? What is it? Don’t have a favorite? browse the internet with your kids for recipes to try making together!
My favorite recipe with potatoes is my Lionpaw’s Potato Balls !
2. Enjoy eating a tasty potato! The picture is of my seasoned potatoes slices. I cut them up like “potato chips” and drizzled them in olive oil, parsley, and garlic on them. They were then mixed in with some sliced up hot dogs.
3. They are also super easy to have children help with preparing! Kids can count them out, organize according to size, wrap them up to bake, wash them, etc! Kids that help make the meal seem to be usually happier to enjoy eating what made!
4. Consider a road trip! Did you know that the Tater Day is a holiday thats been celebrated for over 150 years? It had its 174 th celebration on March 31, 2017 in Benton Kentucky. Find out more about the celebration at their festival website schedule located @ 174th Tater Day Held March 31 Through April 3, 2017
